Idaho Falls Family YMCA Celebrates New Turf at Indoor Sports Arena with Ribbon Cutting

Community invited to celebrate a major milestone in the continued development of the YMCA Indoor Sports Arena

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho — The Idaho Falls Family YMCA will celebrate a major milestone in the continued development of its Indoor Sports Arena with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday, September 9 at 11:30 a.m.

The ceremony will mark the completion of new turf at the YMCA Indoor Sports Arena, located at 3500 S. Ammon Road in Ammon. Community members, YMCA supporters, donors, partners, families and local leaders are invited to see the improved space and celebrate the many people who helped make the project possible.

The new turf represents a significant step forward for the facility and expands opportunities for youth sports, recreation, training and other YMCA programming. The improved playing surface will help the YMCA better serve local athletes, children and families while creating a more versatile space for the community.

“This is an exciting milestone for the Indoor Sports Arena and for the families we serve,” said Tanner Rohne, CEO. “We are incredibly grateful to the donors, organizations and community members who believed in this project and helped make the new turf possible. Their support is creating more opportunities for kids and families to be active, connect and grow.”

While the new turf is complete, the YMCA is continuing to raise funds for the next major improvement to the facility: an HVAC system. The YMCA needs to raise an additional $90,000 to install the system, which would improve temperature control and help make the Indoor Sports Arena a more comfortable and functional year-round space.

“The ribbon cutting is an opportunity to celebrate how far this project has come, but there is still more work ahead,” said Tanner Rohne, CEO. “Adding HVAC is an important next step toward realizing the full potential of the arena as a truly year-round community resource.”
